We'd found 2 different maochas from Bulang mountain, which were each excellent, but in different ways. One was old trees from around Manmu village, while the other was old trees from a few km away. We went back and forth, trying to choose one of them to press into cakes, and in the end decided to blend the two teas. The Manmu was very pure in flavour with a strong qi and strong ku (pleasant bitterness), the other was thicker in the mouth and more sweet in the aftertaste, but also with a strong qi.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMy feeling is that the result has turned out well. The strong ku of the Manmu has been tamed a little and become more thick, while the other has benefited from some extra bitterness and qi. Thick and exceptionally smooth, the bitterness that Bulang is famed for is nicely balanced with a quick, sweet aftertaste and long evolving flavours and sensations in the mouth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter years of ageing in our Malaysia warehouse this tea is progressing well.  The leaves have darkened and the greenness gone.  It still has a powerful bitterness, along with deeper tobacco flavours and aroma.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis tea was lab tested for 200 of the most common agrochemicals. Considering the price and the other good qualities of the tea, we felt this offered great value for money as a very good quality tea to drink regularly and to age. I think it definitely punches well above its weight.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis tea was grown naturally without pesticides or fertilisers. We confirmed this with a lab test for agrochemical residues by one of the leading laboratories. Two hundred of the most common agrochemicals were tested for \u0026amp; no traces were detected. difficult to get these leaves and the price has risen accordingly.   The demand has a reason - the tea from this land is very good.   As good, or better than any of the teas from more famous pieces of land in Yiwu that we've tasted.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis tea is pure - very clean and clear in taste, made from the tall pole trees growing in this area of the forest.  It is extremely elegant, merging comfortably with the body and with a pleasant cooling sensation on the breath.  The comparison with the Tian Men Shan and Yao Zhu Di teas we pressed this year is interesting - they care.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe didn't manage to pick up the 2020 tea when we visited the farmer this spring - the old trees were sprouting very late this year, but we asked him to save the Menghai Tea Factory version.  When tasting the tea also the flavours were also very similar.  I'd even venture to say better than many actual 7542 cakes from this period.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis tea has been stored in Guangzhou and has had very clean storage.  The tea is ageing nicely, with long aftertastes, good aroma and very comfortable to definitely contains at least a high percentage of old tree material.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI first came across this tea in 2008 and bought a couple of cakes at the time for my own collection.   We recently came across it again and were curious to try it after all these years.    This cake has been stored in Kunming and the storage has been very clean.  The aged Jingmai floral\/nutty soup that just keeps brewing and brewing.  There's a touch of aged smoke, leather, camphor notes in the flavour and an aftertaste that transforms and lingers nicely in the mouth.  This has been a higher grade of raw material was used and is quite different from the standard 7581 bricks.  It was stored in Dongguang until around 4 years ago, before the complete batch was bought by a Taiwan tea merchant, and stored there since.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe tea has had light fermentation and it has been nicely aged - the storage has been very clean, and the fermentation flavour is almost all gone.  The tea is bright and vibrant in the mouth, smooth and very pleasant to drink.   This one will appeal to lovers of aged sheng puerh and aged shou puerh alike, and for a tea of this quality the only information on the cake is from the neifei, which states that the material is from Xishuangbanna and pressed in March 2006 from \"thousand year old trees\".  The last part is written with a bit of poetic license of course.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis is an ugly tea.  I almost passed over it when I first saw the cake, thinking that it\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003esuch an unsightly tea wouldn't be very good.  As it turns out, I was quite wrong - this is truly excellent. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eFirst - the flaws, since every tea has them.  This was stored in Kunming, and in my opinion was too dry.  The tea hasn't\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003echanged\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eas much as one would hope over this time.  The leaves have darkened and it's definitely lost the greenness of youth, but it hasn't developed so much of the aged flavours we would like.   It's also been processed a little rustically - the rolling is uneven, some leaves rolled tightly, some loosely (hence the ugly appearance).
