From the 90's to early 2000's Wuzhou Zhongcha were producing these baskets under their "Duoteli" brand. These particular baskets were locally known as "Ma Sheng Ma Dai", due to the Hemp rope and Hemp bag surrounding the basket.
This 50kg basket is from the 1999 with the code : 92106, the first 9 refers to the import year of 1999. The 2 refers to Wuzhou Zhongcha Tea Factory. 1 refers to first grade leaves containing a high concentration of buds and tender leaves. 06 refers to the 6th production from the factory of this year. We bought this basket about 6-7 years ago and have kept it in our Malaysia warehouse to age since then.
This tea was relatively lightly fermented with a strong roast. After ageing this gives a lively tea that's very enjoyable to drink. The storage is clean and the liquid is oily and bright with a nice aged flavour.
For those wanting to pick up a nice aged Liu Bao this is a good choice.
