It's always a good sign when you drink a tea in the evening and wake up in the morning, still thinking about it and eager to brew it again first thing.

This tea is certainly one of these.   Pressed in 2006 to celebrate the Tea Horse Road, it's made of pure old tree tea and it ticks every box.    Nicely aged, strong, concentrated tea.  Clean, aged tobacco flavours (in a nice way), thick mouthfeel and aftertastes that linger for hours.  It's not often that we come across tea like this from this era at a price that is still reasonable.  I can highly recommend this tea

Nice price to quality.

"The tea is thick and sweet and clear, with distinct old woody notes. It is not a tea with zing and pep but is rather deep and relaxing, although it does start to brighten up later. I find it makes the body feel open and relaxed and comfortable. I find it is slightly cooling for the body but becomes more fiery later. It evolves nicely from yin to yang, suggesting good raw material. Sweet, but tending towards woody, with some slight earthiness and leather suggesting a steady, controlled ageing. The leaves appear to be a mix of younger leaves and buds with more mature leaves. There is a significant amount of stem and stalk material in the tea. Hui gan is quick and long lasting. I think this will be a nice tea to drink on milder Autumn days and happy to have it."

A must have tea for your collection

"Bought this one as a sample. I must say its one of my favourite ones from 5 samples I got from Essence of tea. Mainly because I think I can drink it in the evening and still go sleep, as I find it very calming. Brewed it in a small 80ml Yixing Teapot using 5g of tea. The tobacco notes are strong and pleasant. Slightly sour notes after first flush but then it goes away and you enjoy classic old aged puerh. I will definitely get a cake as I mostly drink old aged 15+ puerh and this is a perfect example."
