1999 Iron Orchid Puerh Cake
1999 Iron Orchid Puerh Cake
This tea was ordered by a Malaysian tea teacher Lin Ping Xiang for sale in the teahouse he was running at the time. It has been stored in Malaysia since then in very clean conditions. It has aged nicely with woody notes and a hint of pleasant floral aroma. From tasting, it seems to be composed predominantly, of old tree leaves.
The tea is refined, thick, and oily, with a smooth texture. It has lost the astringency of youth and has developed thick, rich, aged flavours. The tea is vibrant and energetic in the mouth and body, with evolving complexity that makes it an interesting tea to drink. It still has a hint of pleasant bitterness but melts in the mouth and lingers with a long sweet aftertaste.
We are happy to have found some of these cakes. The high quality of the base material, combined with lovely Malaysian storage has made these something very interesting and good value for tea of this age in the market.
