This cake was a happy surprise when we tasted it recently - it had been years since we last tried it and had these few cakes tucked away in our Malaysian warehouse until recently. It has changed so much - it was a nice tea when young but has become something a bit special with 15 years of storage.
We pressed this in 2010 with ancient tree material from Manmai village (Bada area).
It has aged nicely, becoming very concentrated, thick and rich. There is a very pleasant slight bitterness, with long steady sweet aftertaste. This is an excellent semi-aged tea with enough strength to continue to age nicely throughout the years. I wish we had more!
