Deep in the forest, this area has very few ancient trees, but there was an effort by Guafengzhai villagers to plant extensively in the forest in the late 2000’s. The environment here is still very nice and the ancient trees are lovely, but the overwhelming quantity of tea coming from this area is from small trees < 20 years old.
Since we wanted to offer a selection of Guafengzhai's ancient tree gardens, we selected several ancient trees to pick and process separately & have a very small quantity of this available for sale. We selected the trees to pick individually and brought the fresh leaves back to the village to process.
The tea is silky smooth, sweet and rich, full of forest character. It has good body, low astringency and performs elegantly throughout the session.
