The tradition of dyeing fabrics using unripe persimmons has stretched over 1000 years in Japanese culture. Crushing persimmons and using the tannin rich juice to dye this linen toughens it and gives it slightly water resistant properties. These pieces are dyed several times to make a dark colour and hand stitched around the edges.
These mats make lovely for a lovely setting for brewing tea on, creating a space and structure for your setting.
These all have slight differences since they're hand-dyed.
