This was produced by an old acquaintence of ours in Wuyishan. He is also the producer behind our Wudi hongcha. This tea comes from trees growing wild for decades in the Wuyi protected reserve (Zhengyan). They've growing unmanaged without agrochemicals or pruning in the pristine environment. The annual yield is small, but they possess a richness of character that isn't found in cultivated rou gui plantations.
He experimented with some different methods of production for this, deciding that a light-medium oxidation and long roast at medium heat suited this tea perfectly. It's not too green and roasted enough that it's balanced and comfortable to drink yet still displays the nuance of the tea.
This has balanced fruity tones, lovely aroma, a steady aftertaste with good thickness and evolving character in the mouth.
