2016 MangSheQing Gushu 蟒蛇箐古树

This tea was produced by a friend of ours in Jinghong, who specializes in high-quality forest teas and has been a close acquaintance of ours for well over a decade. It comes from Mang She Qing, a region that has gained increasing recognition in recent years thanks to the large ancient trees growing in its protected national forest (Guóyǒulín / 国有林).  Tea from this area isn't inexpensive, but we feel this pure ancient tree tea from this unspoilt forest environment offers something special.

The tea has been stored in Jinghong since its production, where the hot and humid climate has has transformed the tea nicely.  It has lost its youthful greenness and is now developing elegant semi-aged characteristics. The storage has been very clean, allowing the flavours to remain clear, vibrant, and well-defined.

In the cup, it opens with a thick, sweet body. Across multiple infusions, the tea’s inner strength steadily reveals itself, offering a deep, concentrated character. The finish is long and mouthwatering, leaving a lingering aftertaste.   Once you start, it's difficult to stop drinking this one!
