This is a spring picking of ancient tall pole (gaogan) trees growing in the protected forest near Bai Hua Tan. It's not from the core Bai Hua Tan area but the farmer of our 2021 and 2022 Bai Hua Tan teas discovered these trees growing in the forest. Since they don't belong to anyone, he's asked us not to publish the exact location of these trees so he can continue to pick them in future years. These forest trees typically sprout once each year.
The tea itself is thick, rich and powerful. It has a solid body, long steady aftertaste and moderate astringency.
Although not cheap, this is a bargain - less than half the price of gaogan trees in the core BaiHuaTan area, this is from bigger trees that haven't been over picked and still display strong forest character. This tea has the power and strength of character to age well over the long term.
